In this blog, We will explore three powerful pranayama practices—

1)Blowing Out the Candles Breath

2)Jaw Gurning Breath

3)Hissing Through the Teeth Breath

I will share their benefits for relieving irritability during menopause. Additionally, I’ll share some tips and practices to support emotional balance and well-being.

So what are these breath techniques?

Blowing out the candles breath is a simple yet effective technique for releasing tension and promoting relaxation. To practice, sit comfortably with a straight spine. Inhale deeply through your nose, then purse your lips as if blowing out a candle and exhale slowly and steadily. This controlled exhale helps release stress and tension, providing a sense of calmness and tranquility. Do 6 steady rounds of this in your own time.

Jaw gurning breath, also known as Lion’s Breath in yoga, offers a unique way to release pent-up emotions and energy. To practice, sit with a straight spine and open your mouth wide, sticking out your tongue. Inhale deeply through your nose, then exhale forcefully through your mouth, making a roaring sound like a lion. This practice helps release tension in the jaw and facial muscles, while also empowering you to let go of negative emotions and frustrations.

Hissing through the teeth breath is a soothing technique that promotes relaxation and mental clarity. To practice, sit comfortably and close your lips lightly, parting your teeth slightly. Inhale deeply through your nose, then exhale slowly and steadily through your parted teeth, creating a hissing sound. This breath work helps release tension and stress, while also allowing you to focus your mind and quiet negative thoughts.

In addition to these breathing techniques, there are several other practices that can support emotional balance during a time of irritability.. Mindfulness exercises, gentle yoga poses, and dietary changes can all contribute to a sense of well-being. Taking time for self-care, engaging in activities you enjoy, and seeking support from friends, family, or a therapist can also be beneficial.

Managing irritability during menopause is possible with the help of yoga breathing techniques and complementary practices. By incorporating Blowing Out the Candles Breath, Jaw Gurning Breath, and Hissing Through the Teeth Breath into your daily routine, along with other supportive practices, you can find relief from symptoms and cultivate a greater sense of calmness and emotional balance. Embrace this transformative phase with grace and compassion for yourself, knowing that you have the tools to navigate it with ease.

If you want to come and learn more about some more yoga and breath techiniques to help support you and you are local to Ashby De La Zouch, our new class is here for you.

Our class is on every Thursday 6.45-8.15 where you will be wlecomed with open arms and be part of a small community of people who are taking the time out to take good care.
